About SDHA

The Saskatchewan Dental Hygienists’ Association (SDHA): Our Role and Responsibilities

The SDHA is the regulatory body for over 650 Registered Dental Hygienists (RDH) in the province of Saskatchewan and is mandated by the provincial government, under The Dental Disciplines Act, to carry out its activities and govern its members in a manner that serves and protects the public interest.

In protecting the public, the SDHA ensures that dental hygienists are educated to perform safe and appropriate dental hygiene services and that they follow the practice standards set out by the association.

What is Self-Regulation?

Dental Hygiene in Saskatchewan has been a self-regulating profession since 1997. “Self-regulated” means that the dental hygiene profession governs itself through the SDHA.

The SDHA also serves as the professional association for the dental hygiene profession in the province of Saskatchewan.
